This list will be uploaded by 4th December 2024 and then updated on 6th December 2024. This will mean your registration is confirmed. Please make sure you have registered before 6th December. We won't be taking individual requests for confirmation.
INSTRUCTIONS FOR THE FINAL ROUND
Top 50 teams chosen from the Advanced and Senior categories each will compete in the Final Round which will be held on 9th, 10th, and 11th January 2025 at The Palace Hall, (NSCI), Dr. Annie Basant Road, Adjoining SVP Stadium, Worli, Mumbai. The Event will begin at 5 pm on 9th January and end at 5 pm on 11th of January, 2025.
Laptops are NOT required for the competition. Students can carry basic stationary and a bottle to fill water.
Final Round is divided into four parts, details of which can be found below.
1) Clash of Mathematicians (Individual)
2) Math Challengers (Team)
3) Pass the Baton (Team)
4) Bulb Your Ideas (Team)
Quizzitch (Top 5 Teams): For Quizzitch Top 5 teams will be selected from the 3 team rounds mentioned above.
For the final score, all four rounds will be considered.
Questions will be based on simple topics rather than requiring knowledge of more advanced topics that are not commonly taught at this age. Questions will include number theory, algebra, shape and measure, geometry, trigonometry, probability, and statistics. These questions are designed to bend and stretch the student’s mathematical knowledge.
- CLASH OF MATHEMATICIANS (Individual Round)
Number of questions: 25
Time: 60 minutes
Type of questions: Multiple choice
Marking:
· 4 marks for each correct answer
1 mark for no answer/blank
· 0 marks for each wrong answer.
Difficulty Level: Difficult questions based on the above topics. No knowledge of advanced topics required.
Style: Students will be will be given a set of 25 problems. The answer to each question will be in one of the four options provided after the question. Students shall have to select the correct option.
2. Math Challengers (Team round)
Math Challengers (Team round)
Number of questions: 10
Time: 60 minutes
Marking:
· 10 marks for each correct answer
· 0 marks for each wrong/no answer.
Difficulty Level: Difficult questions based on above topics. No knowledge of advanced topics required.
Style: Team will be given a set of 10 problems. The answers will be in whole numbers and will have to be entered in the answer sheet which they will get during the competition.
3. PASS THE BATON (Pass-back Round) :
Number of questions: 1+5
Time: 45 minutes
Difficulty Level: Difficult questions based on above topics. No knowledge of advanced topics required.
Style: Students will sit in teams but in a line one behind the other. All three will get three separate questions (for example 1A, 1B, 1C) which they can't share. The answer to the first part of the question (1A) will be the input for the 2nd part of the question (1B) and the answer of the 2nd part of the question will be the input for the third part of the question (1C). Only the third student (C) will submit the answer sheet to the proctor. This answer sheet should contain all 3 answers (A, B, C) solved by the three students in a team.
The first student will be handed over a small chit, where he writes ONLY the answer and passes it on to the 2nd student. The 2nd student will write the answer on the same chit and pass it to the third student. The third student will write the 2 answers passed on to him via the chit and his own answer on the answer sheet and submit it to the proctor.
Marking: 1st Question will be a trial question. Each of the 5 questions will carry a maximum of 20 marks each. If the team gets the A part correct they will receive 2 points. If the team gets B part correct they will receive 5 points. If they get the C part correct then they receive 20 points.
More details will be given on the day of the competition.
4. BULB YOUR IDEAS
The objective of this round is to promote creativity and collaboration in solving divergent, limited data problems in buddy teams.
The question for this round will be made available to each team on the day of the competition.
Teams will be expected to answer the question and create a presentation of their solution using the stationary provided during the day of the competition.
The rubric against which the poster will be marked will also be made available along with the question.
QUIZZITCH (Math Quiz)
For Quizzitch Top 5 teams will be selected from the 3 team rounds mentioned above. There will be four rounds of questions including the solving of tricky questions on the spot. The top two teams will be awarded.
